A lot of folks have emailed me asking who I am and what is retroreform.org. The answer is that I am a parent from North Bend Washington. I have a daughter who attends school in the Snoqualmie Valley School District. Our school district has great teachers, great parents and great kids. But we are one of the lowest funded and most over crowded school districts in America. The State of Washington has the 47th lowest school funding in the US and our school district is 294th out of 295 school districts in Washington State. Ironically, tax payers in our School District pay some of the highest State taxes in America. In addition, Washington State has the 11th highest median family per capita income in America. While we have an excellent economy, our legislature is simply refusing to fund our public schools.
I have taught courses in Problem Solving at Bellevue Community College for nearly 20 years. I have spent the past three years trying to solve the school funding problem in our State. I started a different organization and website (fairschoolfundingcoalition.org) to address this problem.
However, it became apparent that the real problem was that an extremely anti-public school organization, the BIAW, was basically buying elections and this was the real reason school funding has dropped so low in our State during the past 15 years.
I complained about the BIAW to several pro-school-funding legislators. Because I have a background in math and statistical analysis, these legislators asked me to look into where the BIAW was getting $10 million dollars per year to buy elections in Washington State.
What I found was the worse economic and political scandal in the history of Washington State. I discovered that the money being used to buy elections was actually TAX PAYER MONEY! Even worse, the diversion of tax payer funds was not merely in the millions of dollars, but in the billions of dollars.
And the corruption was not merely in the BIAW, but extended to the the heads of State agencies including the Attorney General's office and the Department of Labor and Industries and included legislators with BOTH political parties.
I decided the public had a right and a need to know about this corruption, which is why I started retroreform.org as a website to get the information out to the public.
